Challenge:
ADRA Yemen had been struggling for years with makeshift websites that never fully met the needs of the organization. Employees were unable to edit content easily. Instead, all changes were made manually in the code. ADRA needed a user–friendly website that would not need constant revisions and overhauls.
Process:
Working with the Country Director and the Program Director, I started everything from scratch. Wanting a solid framework on which to build, I chose to use Blueprint CSS to setup the frontend. Drupal was chosen for the Content Management System (CMS). I did face a number of challenges with changes in team members during the project, but the new staff did their best to pick up the project quickly.
Result:
Several employees mentioned their satisfaction with the website. Key employees were provided a manual to help with updates to the website, and for future training. Yemenis as well as stakeholders outside Yemen are very impressed with the overall work.
